چکیده

We perform an oscillation parameter-independent analysis of solar neutrino flux measurements from which we predict the charged-current rate at SNO relative to Standard Solar Model to be R SNO = 0.35 +0.16 −0.09(0.46 +0.13 −0.11) for oscillations to active (sterile) neutrinos. By alternately considering the B flux normalization fixed and free, we find that the flux measured by SuperKamiokande (SK) not being a result of oscillations is strongly disfavored. SNO will determine the best-fit value of the B flux normalization β (equal to the neutral-current rate), without recourse to neutral-current measurements, from the derived relation β = R SNO = 5.85RSK − 4.85R SNO. Using a simple parameterization of the fraction of high, intermediate, and low energy solar neutrinos starting above resonance, we reproduce the results of global analyses to good accuracy; we find that the LMA solution with a normal mass hierarchy is clearly favored. With β free, our analysis for oscillations to active neutrinos gives R SNO = β = 1.34 ± 0.34, which corresponds to R SNO = 0.28 ± 0.07.

The neutrino puzzle in the light of SNO

SNO's neutral current measurement has added a new piece to the emerging neutrino physics puzzle. Putting together the presently available experimental information, an essentially unique picture emerges: The solar neutrino anomaly is explained by ν e → ν τ oscillations, the atmospheric neu-trino anomaly is explained by ν µ → ν s and the LSND data are explained by ν e → ν µ. This scheme will be t...

Solar Neutrino Oscillation Diagnostics at Superkamiokande and Sno

Results for solar neutrino detection from the SuperKamiokande collaboration have been presented recently while those from the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory are expected in the near future. These experiments are sensitive to the B neutrinos from the sun, the shape of whose spectrum is well-known but the normalisation is less certain. We propose several variables, insensitive to the absolute flux ...

Tests of electron flavor conservation with the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory.

We analyze tests of electron flavor conservation that can be performed at the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory ~SNO!. These tests, which utilize B solar neutrinos interacting with deuterium, measure ~1! the shape of the recoil electron spectrum in charged-current ~CC! interactions ~the CC spectrum shape!, and ~2! the ratio of the number of charged-current to neutral current ~NC! events ~the CC/NC r...

Violation of the Equivalence Principle in the light of the SNO and SK solar neutrino results

The SNO result on charged current deuteron disintegration, the SuperKamiokande 1258day data on electron scattering, and other solar neutrino results are used to revisit the model of neutrino oscillations driven by a violation of the equivalence principle. We use a χ minimization technique to examine oscillation between the νe and another active neutrino, both massless, and find that within the ...

Unknowns after the SNO charged-current measurement.

We perform a model-independent analysis of solar neutrino flux rates including the recent charged-current measurement at the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory (SNO). We derive a universal sum rule involving SNO and SuperKamiokande rates, and show that the SNO neutral-current measurement cannot fix the fraction of solar nu(e) oscillating to sterile neutrinos. The large uncertainty in the standard sol...
